All Ladies Invited
St. Anne’s meets the second Tuesday of

lunchtime. We enjoy fellowship and preparing any projects on which we
might be

These
two projects have helped through the years to cushion pews, buy two
sets of
playground equipment and make the chair covers for hymnals and prayer
books. We
also have been able to help with monetary contributions to some of our
parish
projects. We welcome any parishoner to join us. If
you have any
questions contact Billie Terhune at 405-737-5927.

The
Brotherhood of St. Andrew
Meetings
2nd & 4th Saturday of Each Month
8:00am
Meetings
Held In The Church Conference Room
The brotherhood of Saint Andrew was
founded at St. James in Chicago
in 1883 as a ministry for men to pray, study and serve Christ by
spreading
Christ’s word among men and youth. The brotherhood was incorporated by
an Act
of Congress and signed by President Theodore Roosevelt on May 30,
1908.
When Saint Andrew became a disciple of Christ, he went and
found his own brother, Simon, before he did anything else and brought
him to
Jesus. The brotherhood continues this today, to bring all men to
Christ, as we
are all brothers with Christ. The goals of the brotherhood are to
foster a Christian
awareness and attitude among all men, to do tasks which promote this
awareness
of Christ’s message and to study and discuss the teaching and writings
of
Christ so that we may better serve Christ.
A normal meeting consists of
an opening and closing service,
a Bible reading followed by discussion and a meal shared by the
brothers, just
as Christ shared the table with His disciples.
Any baptized Christian may be a member of the brotherhood.
There are no absolute age limits for membership
The brotherhood meets on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the
month at the church. Breakfast is served at 8 a.m., followed by a lively discussion on the
current lesson being
studied.

BIBLE STUDY
7:00pm
Meeting Held In The
Church Conference Room
A group of people are meeting on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30
in the church for a Bible Study. St. James Anglican has a Men’s Bible
study and
a Women’s Bible study; however, this group decided it would be nice to
have a
Bible study with both men and women. The group had its first meeting
the last
week of June and decided to study the book of Acts. There are presently
from 10
to 16 that meet weekly. The format is easy. A chapter from Acts is read
orally,
we discuss what we feel it is saying, how it applies to us today, and
we share
any personal experiences we have had relating to the chapter. A
different
person facilitates the discussion each week. Come be a part of this
spiritually
growing study.

“Very
early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus
got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he
prayed.”
— Mark 1:35
St. James Anglican is blessed to have a
group of people who
prayerfully lift the names of those who are in need of prayer. Whether,
like
Jesus, we do it in the dark of morning, at noon,
or at night, the act of talking to our Lord about the needs of others
is a
wonderful ministry. If you have a special prayer request, or if you
would like
to be a part of the prayer chain that prays for a list of people on a
regular
basis, speak to Fr. Vern or one of the following members: Karen
Campbell,
Vivian Gardner, Cheri Hunter, Lois McKenna, Sheila Patterson, Karyl
Paxson,
Terry and Judy Seymour, Helen Spaan, Lanina Starks, Tim Starks, Marion
Ulman,
Brad VanDeventer or Joy Weber.
Do you have a special prayer request? Is
there someone in
your life whose needs are great? Are you feeling so blessed that you
want to
offer our Lord thanks and praise? St. James Anglican has a prayer team
ready
and willing to pray with you. Jesus said, “Where two or three have
gathered in
My name, there I am in their midst.” — Matthew 18:20. Following
communion, make
your way to the back of the church, and one of our prayer teams will be
happy
to pray with you. If you would like to know more about this wonderful
ministry,
please contact Fr. Vern or Joy Weber. We are in need of more members
for our
prayer teams; it only takes a few minutes of your time to fulfill the
duties of
this ministry. As Oswald Chambers stated:
“Prayer does not equip us for greater
works — prayer IS the greater work.”

EUCHARIST WITH THE LAYING ON

Kids for Christ
A ministry for the children (ages 5-12)
of St. James to
spend time together as they work on different ministry projects for the
community. We meet once a month after church for lunch, play time, and
work
time. In the past we have made toiletry bags for the homeless, provided
toys
for Christmas Connection, made pillow treats to give to family members
(of
prisoners) for their weekend retreat. If you have needs for a special
ministry,
we would love new ideas for our projects. If you have any questions,
suggestions, or would like to participate, please call Cheri Hunter at
799-5410.

Lay Readers
One of our many important ministries is
Lay Reading. We have
a dedicated, although small, staff of Lay Readers. We are always
looking to
increase our ranks. Lay Reading is
an important ministry, as they are an integral part of the actual
Sunday
Service. They read the Epistle, Prayers of the People, act as
Chalicifers, and
could assist as Crucifer or Server. As need dictates, a Lay Reader may
lead a
Morning/Noon/Evening Prayer Service. Several of our Lay Readers have
served as
Lectors, and many have entered as Lay Readers directly from the
Congregation.
If you feel called to this crucial ministry, please contact Dave
Haener.
Baptized, confirmed membership is a prerequisite.
What Is A Lector?
A
lector is one who reads the Old Testament lesson, and
leads the reading of the Psalm at the Eucharist on Sunday. A
lector is also needed for special services
during Holy Week and at Christmas Eve, and as required for any other
special
services. A lector does not become
licensed, as a lay reader does; rather, a lector is a ‘lay person’ who
sits in
the congregation and gets up to read at the appointed time. A
lector must have a strong voice, a desire
to present the lessons in a comprehensive manner, and a faithfulness to
read
when scheduled (or find a replacement if necessary). A lector
schedule is published quarterly
listing the lector’s name and phone number, and the assigned
readings.
Currently the list of lectors is for the 10:30 service; for there is only one lector
for the 8:00
service.
If additional people would like to read at 8:00 that can be arranged. If you
think you are called to be a lector
please contact Sheila Patterson.
